ABSTRACT The objective of the present study was to detect endophytic fungi associated with the seeds of 11 forest species. Ten genera of endophytic fungi were found associated with the seeds of those species. The most frequent fungi found in the seed lots were Aspergillus sp., Penicillium and Fusarium. Trichoderma sp. and Phomopsis sp. were also detected.

RESUMO O objetivo deste trabalho foi detectar fungos endofíticos associados às sementes de 11 espécies florestais. Dez gêneros de fungos endofíticos foram associados às sementes dessas espécies. Os fungos encontrados com maior frequência nos lotes de sementes foram Aspergillus sp., Penicillium e Fusarium. Encontrou-se também Trichoderma sp. e Phomopsis sp.

RESUMO No Brasil, mudas de orquídeas são importadas de vários países, como: Holanda, Taiwan e Tailândia e estão sujeitas a inspeções fitossanitárias. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a qualidade fitossanitária, com relação aos vírus de mudas de orquídeas importadas e nacionais através de Teste Imunocromatográfico e de RT-PCR. Detectou-se o Cucumber mosaic vírus em amostras de orquídeas importadas em infecção simples ou mista. Embora o CMV não seja um vírus quarentenário brasileiro e nenhum vírus nesta categoria tenha sido detectado, as amostras examinadas evidenciaram a necessidade de fortalecer um programa nacional de indexação de vírus, evitando a introdução de vírus de outros países através de orquídeas importadas, de forma a minimizar os riscos de fontes de inóculo e introdução de potenciais novas variantes desses vírus, disseminando e prejudicando o agronegócio brasileiro.

ABSTRACT In Brazil, orchid seedlings are imported from several countries, such as: Holland, Taiwan, Thailand, and are subject to phytosanitary inspections. This study aimed to evaluate the phytosanitary quality, considering viruses from imported and domestic orchid seedlings, through immunochromatographic test and RT-PCR. Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) was detected in imported orchid samples as single or mixed infection. Although CMV is not a Brazilian quarantine virus and no virus in this plant category was detected, the examined samples evidenced the need to strengthen a national virus-indexing program, preventing the introduction of foreign viruses via imported orchids, in order to mitigate the risks of inoculum sources and introduction of potential new variants of these viruses, which can spread and impair Brazilian agribusiness.
